Alternative Strategies for the Long-Term Management and Use of Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride

This PEIS assesses the potential impacts of alternative management strategies for depleted uranium hexafluoride (UF6) stored at three DOE sites: the Paducah site near Paducah, Kentucky; Portsmouth site near Portsmouth, Ohio; and K‑25 site on the Oak Ridge Reservation, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The alternatives analyzed in the PEIS include no action, long-term storage as UF6, long-term storage as uranium oxide, use as uranium oxide, use as uranium metal, and disposal.
