Soil Treatability Study

The Department of Energy (DOE) is looking into which soil treatment technologies, if any, can effectively address soil contamination in Area IV at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL). The Soil Treatability Study has been designed to evaluate if there are any in situ (in-place) treatment technologies that could effectively meet the requirements of the 2010 Administrative Order on Consent.

Soil Treatability Study Meetings

During the DOE Soil Treatability Study Kick-off Meeting in October 2011, attendees learned about the overall study design and screening criteria and had the opportunity to provide suggestions for technologies that should be considered. 

The second Soil Treatability Study meeting took place in January 2012, during which time Dr. Charles Newell presented an overview on soil remediation technologies. View the presentation below.
