Chemical Co-Located Sampling
The Department of Energy and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control have been in the field working on the chemical co-located sampling effort with the Environmental Protection Agency. Since the beginning of the co-located sampling effort, several documents have been prepared by DOE's contractor CDM and approved by DTSC. DOE is committed to keeping the community informed in a timely manner of the chemical co-located effort and all other DOE-related efforts on the site.
Soil Treatability Study
DOE is preparing to see which soil treatment technologies, if any, can effectively address soil contamination in Area IV. The Soil Treatability Study has been designed to evaluate if there are any in situ (in-place) treatment technologies that could effectively meet the requirements of the 2010 Administrative Order on Consent. EPA Characterization
EPA is conducting a radiological survey and sampling program of Area IV and the northern undeveloped land. In addition, EPA conducted a sampling program to establish radiological background surrounding SSFL.
Chemical Data Summary Report
The Soils Chemical Data Summary Report (CDSR) is a compilation of the soil chemical data collected within Area IV and Northern Buffer Zone (NBZ) at SSFL in Ventura County, California. This CDSR includes the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Facility Investigation (RFI) results, as well as the results of Phases 1, 2, and 3 soil sampling identified in the 2010 Administrative Order on Consent for Remedial Action (AOC).
