The Pacific Northwest Site Office issued a Notice of Availability for a draft Environmental Assessment for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Aquatic Research Activities in Sequim Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca (DOE/EA-2271). The EA assesses the potential environmental impacts of potential DOE research activities associated with the PNNL-Sequim campus over the next 20 years. Under the Proposed Action evaluated in this EA, DOE would perform research activities in Sequim Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, including equipment and device installation; vessel and autonomous vehicle use; surveys, sampling, and dye releases; operation of sound, electromagnetic field, and light emitting devices; and marine energy device and tidal turbine installation and operation.
