DOE’s Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) issued final DOE/EA-1395, “Right-of-Way Maintenance in the Sacramento Valley, California” which assesses the potential environmental impacts of proposed changes to enhance safety and improve maintenance performance and practices in electricity transmission line rights-of-way (ROWs) in the Sacramento Valley of northern California. WAPA proposed moving from a traditional condition-based maintenance approach to a more long-term strategy for ROW maintenance, and considered alternatives for vegetation maintenance in transmission line and access road ROWs; access road maintenance; and transmission lines, associated structures, hardware, and equipment maintenance.
