Following subsidence at PUREX Tunnel 1 in May 2017, a structural integrity evaluation was submitted to Ecology in June 2017 identifying that the potential risk of localized collapse of PUREX Storage Tunnel 2 is high, thus stabilization of the tunnel is recommended to be implemented as soon as possible to minimize the risk of failure.
