Summary
Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) prepared an environmental impact statement for its Transmission System Vegetation Management Program (Final EIS, DOE/EIS-0285, June 2000) to analyze alternative ways to manage vegetation along BPA transmission facilities. In July 2000, the BPA issued a Record of Decision (ROD) that selected alternatives from the Final EIS for various components of vegetation management and set the policy and direction for managing vegetation at and along BPA transmission facilities, including in rights-of-way and access roads throughout the service area.
As needed, BPA prepares a supplement analysis to this EIS to consider adding or changing herbicides and methods to the vegetation management program in accordance with the procedures identified in the EIS. For the implementation and utilization of any of the herbicides or methods, BPA follows a 7-step process outlined in the EIS to prepare a project-specific supplement analysis.
