Summary
The DOE Loan Programs Office (LPO) is proposing to issue a loan to Lithium Nevada Corp. to advance Phase 1 of the Thacker Pass Project in Humboldt County, Nevada. The subject of DOE loan is for the mine processing facilities and associated infrastructure, and not for the development and operation of the open pit mine. The Project is designed to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate, a critical component in the manufacturing of advanced electric vehicles (EVs). The Bureau of Land Management prepared an EIS that analyzed the potential direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts associated with the proposed Thacker Pass Lithium Mine and Reclamation Plan of Operations and the North and South Area Exploration Plan of Operations.
