DOE/EIS-0539: Plaquemines LNG and Gator Express Pipeline; Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana

Summary

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) prepared an EIS to assess a proposal to site, construct, and operate natural gas liquefaction, storage, and export facilities at a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the west bank of the Mississippi River, and authorization to construct and operate associated lateral pipelines in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

DOE was a cooperating agency in preparing the EIS. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest. DOE has adopted the Final EIS.
