Golden Pass LNG Export Project Amendment
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) prepared an EA that analyzes the potential impacts of increasing the authorized production capacity of the Golden Pass LNG Project by 197 Bcf/y to 937 Bcf/y (equivalent volume of natural gas). This EA supplements Golden Pass LNG Export Project, FERC’s 2016 EIS that DOE adopted as DOE/EIS-0501.
DOE was a cooperating agency in preparing the EA. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest. (DOE's participation as a cooperating agency and assignment of a document number are not a commitment that DOE will adopt or supplement the EIS.)
