This EA evaluates the environmental impacts of a proposal to provide $1.94 million in cost-shared funding to the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) for the Battleground Energy Recovery Project, from funds authorized from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to advance research and demonstrate energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. The proposed project would produce 8 megawatts of electricity from high pressure steam generated by capturing heat that is currently lost at the Clean Harbors Deer Park Facility Deer Park County, Texas.
Based on the analysis in the EA, DOE has determined that its proposed action and HARC's proposed project would result in no significant adverse impacts.
