DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, announced the adoption of a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission EIS that assesses the potential environmental impacts of a proposal to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, storage, and export facility on the northern bank of the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas, and a natural gas pipeline system from Kleberg County, Texas, to the planned terminal.
DOE was a cooperating agency in preparing the EIS. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest.
