DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy issued a record of decision in DOE/FE Order No. 4410, an opinion and order authorizing Gulf LNG Liquefaction Company, LLC to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to non-free trade agreement countries under section 3(a) of the Natural Gas Act. DOE had adopted DOE/EIS-0504, prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission with DOE as a cooperating agency, for a proposal to add natural gas liquefaction and export capabilities at the existing Gulf LNG Terminal in Jackson County, Mississippi. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest.
