The Tritium Finishing Facility at the Savannah River Site

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), a semi-autonomous agency within the United States (U.S.) Department of Energy (DOE), prepared a final environmental assessment (DOE/EA-2151) to analyze the potential environmental impacts from constructing and operating the Tritium Finishing Facility (TFF) at the Savannah River Site (SRS). The TFF would be used to inspect, store, finish, assemble, and package the gas transfer systems (GTSs), which contain the tritium reservoirs used in a nuclear weapon. NNSA’s Proposed Action is to construct and operate the TFF at SRS.
