July 23, 2024The Department of Energy (DOE or the Department) has identified categorical exclusions established by the United States Forest Service (USFS) that cover categories of actions pertinent to DOE operations. DOE is adopting seven categorical exclusions established by USFS (36 CFR 220.6(e)(11-14, 18-20). These categorical exclusions apply to certain post-fire rehabilitation activities, harvest of live trees, salvage of dead or dying trees, harvest of trees to control insects or disease, wetlands restoration, removal of debris and sediment, restoration and stabilization of lands occupied by roads and trails, and similar activities.
