The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to authorize the administration of a prize competition known as the Water Resource Recovery Prize (Prize). This Prize is part of a larger effort known as the Water Security Grand Challenge, which is a White House-initiated and DOE-led framework to advance transformational technology and innovation to meet the global need for safe, secure, and affordable water. Through the Water Resource Recovery Prize DOE seeks to accelerate the transition from conventional wastewater treatment to a model of resource recovery from municipal wastewater and focus on the Water Security Grand Challenge goal of doubling resource recovery from water resource recovery facilities by 2030.
