The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) to design, develop, fabricate, and test novel corrosion and fouling resistant coatings for use in concentrated solar power (CSP) applications. The coatings would be developed to enable conventional containment and piping alloys to be used with working fluids in high temperatures. Various coating materials would be developed and applied to substrates for laboratory testing. The project would be completed over a single Budget Period.
