The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the University of Texas at Austin (UT) for the development of an “innovation pipeline” to support geothermal related startups and advance technology readiness levels of new geothermal related innovations and inventions in an effort to help drive down the risks and cost of high temperature deep drilling sufficiently to enable widespread deployment of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS).
