The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to North Carolina State University (NCSU) for the development and optimization of a novel membrane technology for the effective recovery of kraft chemicals. This effort would seek to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the pulp and paper industry by replacing the traditional kraft chemical recovery with a low-greenhouse gas (GHG) emission technology.
