The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Orcas Power and Light Cooperative (OPALCO) to develop a pilot demonstration site and install 1-5 megawatts (MW) of tidal capacity that meets current local, state, and federal regulatory requirements in the Rosario Strait east of the San Juan Islands, northwest of mainland Washington State.
