The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) to design, develop, and fabricate processes to recover and recycle catalysts, membranes, ionomers, carbon, and other components of low-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells and electrolyzers. AIChE would lead a consortium that includes leading fuel cell, electrolyzer, catalyst, and ionomer analysis industry partners, national laboratories, and universities.
