The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Bridgestone Americans Tire Operation (Bridgestone) to demonstrate efficient pilot scale production of butadiene with reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to support a business case for commercialization. Project efforts to design, install and operate a 3 kilogram/hour pilot process that would convert ethanol to butadiene would occur at Bridgestone’s Polymer Engineering Pilot Center site located in Akron, Ohio.
