The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to administer Congressionally Directed Spending to the University of Tulsa (UT) to test the transportability of hydrogen-natural gas blends in polyethylene (PE) pipelines, develop a flow-modeling design tool to optimize flow through PE pipelines, and analyze the impact of hydrogen on PE degradation. Award tasks would include literature review, model performance analysis, equipment procurement and preparation, test bed construction and testing, and modeling studies.
