The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Purdue University Northwest to analyze, design, fabricate, and conduct operational trials of a retrofitted hydrogen(H2)-fired reheating furnace (RF). The proposed award activities would investigate the feasibility of using H2 combustion to reduce RF carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while maintaining existing quality standards and enhancing energy efficiency.
