The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Marquis R&D Energy LLC (Marquis) to assemble and operate a gas fermentation pilot plant at an existing Marquis ethanol production facility in Hennepin, IL. The award aims to produce ethanol from the waste carbon dioxide (CO2) produced during the existing facility’s corn fermentation process as well as produce hydrogen (H2) from electrolysis.
