October 24, 2023The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the University of Maryland (UMD) for the development of a plug-and-play, modular thermal energy storage (TES) unit that can be integrated into an existing TES-ready outdoor condensing unit of a residential home. The TES would allow excess thermal energy to be stored and used later in the home. Project activities would include laboratory research in addition to the design, development, fabrication, and testing of the TES.
