CX-028978: Carbon-Neutral Steel Production with Methane Pyrolysis Driven Direct Reduced Iron

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Molten Industries Inc. (Molten) to design, fabricate, and test a pilot scale system capable of reducing iron ore to metallic iron with hydrogen gas. The creation of this system would involve the integration of a hydrogen gas producing methane pyrolysis reactor with the iron reduction process.
