CX-020945: Replacement of 285-H Substation

The two unit substations supplying electrical power to 285-H Cooling Water Supply Basin and the 285-11H Cooling Tower are over sixty years old. The unit substations are obsolete with limited or no availability of spare parts and components. Neither substation is equipped with an insulated bus structure, and the 480V unit substation has insulated feeder cables intermingled and in contact with the bus structure. Both unit substations have enclosed tops (roofs) that have been patched and coated in the past due to heavy rusting. Continued reliable operation may not be achievable even with quality maintenance. The solution is to replace both unit substations.
