The U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Global Material Security, proposes to provide financial assistance to the World Institute for Nuclear Security to provide continued support for its efforts to broaden its participatory base and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of security arrangements for nuclear and radioactive materials. World Institute for Nuclear Security’s key objective is to provide effective mechanisms whereby individuals and organizations become aware of best nuclear security practices, understand the risks at their facilities, obtain substantive professional development opportunities to underpin their security accountabilities and responsibilities, become third-party certified nuclear security professionals, and ultimately apply their knowledge and expertise to strengthen nuclear and radiological security programs in a sustainable manner.
