The Department of Energy, Richland Operations Office, Site Stewardship Division proposes to install new and replace existing artificial burrows for burrowing owls at selected locations on the Hanford Site. Existing artificial burrows are early designs and near their life expectancy. Modern designs would facilitate maintenance and provide longer life expectancies. Artificial burrows would serve to protect, restore, and improve wildlife habitat for burrowing owls in accordance with the "Hanford Site Biological Resources Management Plan".
