The Colorado School of Mines proposes to install a subminiature mechanical testing load frame in the Nuclear Materials Laboratory, with a particular focus on establishing materials characterization capabilities for radioactive, low dose-rate, additively manufactured specimens that parallel and enhance the school’s non-radioactive capabilities. The project will purchase a subminiature tensile test stand equipped with a digital image correlation system and an in-situ tensile stage that will provide a sealed environment that will allow tensile testing of sub-miniature irradiated specimens.
