The activity includes installing a new remediation well, similar to the existing remediation wells (RWM series [e.g., RWM-1 through RWM-11]), that pumps groundwater to the M-1 Air Stripper (M-Area). Design of the recovery well is complete. Installation of the recovery well (RWM018) and its pump is complete. Construction began in December 2017. In March 2018 it was determined that an existing flange must be broken to tie in the new piping to the existing piping. The flange gasket material cannot be determined at this time and is thereby assumed to be asbestos.
