Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is providing funding to the Kalispel Tribe to conserve a 104-acre parcel in Pend Oreille County, Washington. The acquisition parcel was selected for protection due to the potential to restore altered riparian and wetland habitats for wildlife and resident fish species. Over time, the restoration of the property will provide habitat for ducks, osprey, eagles, and species dependant on forested wetlands to meet their life requirements. An unnamed tributary to Calispell Creek, a major tributary to the Pend Oreille River, crosses the property and would also benefit from the restoration actions.
