Slick Rock, Colorado, Disposal Site
The Slick Rock disposal site, a Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA) Title I disposal site, is licensed to DOE for custody and long-term care, and managed by the Office of Legacy Management. The site transitioned to DOE in 1998 and requires routine inspection and maintenance, records-related activities, and stakeholder support.
Slick Rock, Colorado, Processing Sites
The Slick Rock processing sites are regulated under Title I of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA). DOE began remediation of the two Slick Rock processing sites in 1995 and completed cleanup in 1996. DOE is responsible for remaining groundwater contamination at the two sites which requires routine surface water and groundwater sampling, inspection and maintenance of groundwater monitoring wells, records-related activities, and stakeholder support.
