The  Annual Historical Summary (AHS) report documents more than 100 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Legacy Management’s (LM) most significant accomplishments during calendar year 2022. These accomplishments demonstrate LM’s commitment to its mission to protect human health and the environment.

“I hope you find our 2022 Annual Historical Summary valuable and interesting,” said LM Director Carmelo Melendez. “We are proud of the work we’ve done over the past year and want to share our accomplishments with all our stakeholders.”

The 2022 AHS highlights long-term care at LM sites and educational outreach program accomplishments, activities, and events across the nation. Program and project accomplishments were achieved at former Superfund, Manhattan Project, uranium processing, and other sites that supported the nation’s nuclear defense and early atomic energy programs.

LM has published these annual reports since 2016. LM published three, five-year summaries previously, beginning in 2003, when DOE established LM. Together, the annual and five-year summaries provide an historical perspective for future stakeholders and historians.
