DOE ordered Bulbrite Industries, Inc. (“Bulbrite”) to pay a $ 22,500 civil penalty after Bulbrite had manufactured and distributed in commerce multiple units of the noncompliant Bulbrite general service lamps model 861044 100 Watt A21 and 861155 60 Watt A19. The Order adopted a Settlement Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Bulbrite.

On April 5, 2024, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Bulbrite finding that the Bulbrite general service lamps model 861044 100 Watt A21 and 861155 60 Watt A19 do not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on qualified as GSLs but did not meet the applicable federal energy conservation standard of at least 45 lm/W. Bulbrite provided DOE records showing the number of units Bulbrite distributed.    Federal law subjects manufacturers and private labelers to civil penalties if those parties distribute in the U.S. products that do not meet applicable energy conservation standards.
