Office of Environmental Management Historical Timelines
The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management's (EM) mission is to address the legacy resulting from the decades of nuclear weapons production and government-sponsored nuclear energy research, including at many sites involved in the once-secret Manhattan Project.
The Atomic Legacy Preservation Network is a Department of Energy initiative to create a network of museums, interpretative centers, and parks to collaborate and share resources to tell the story of the Manhattan Project, the history of nuclear weapons production in the United States and the legacy it left behind.
