The Idaho Citizens Advisory Board has joined with the seven other Department of Energy Site Specific Advisory Boards in making recommendations concerning the DOE Environmental Management SSAB website.

Leaders from all eight DOE sites with the EM citizen's advisory board, met last spring  and considered options for the website. After much discussion, the board recommended that the EM SSAB website maintain and keep documents related to board activities in perpetuity. The documents shall be in a searchable archival online location available to the public. These documents include, but are not limited to, recommendations, responses, and minutes.

Following the spring meeting, CAB leaders shared the resolution with their full Citizens Advisory Board. The eight boards unanimously approved the recommendation. In addition to the Idaho CAB, the other boards are Hanford, Nevada, Northern New Mexico, Oak Ridge, Paducah, Portsmouth and Savannah River.  The full recommendation is available on the EM SSAB website.

The EM SSAB is the DOE EM’s most effective vehicle for fostering two-way communication between DOE EM and the communities it serves. The EM program is the world’s largest environmental cleanup program, and the EMSSAB its only citizen advisory board. For more than 20 years, the volunteer citizens of the EM SSAB have partnered with EM officials at both the local and national levels to ensure that the public has a meaningful voice in cleanup decisions
