Successful vehicle grid integration (VGI) involves innovation in technology, policy, and processes—enabled by a continuous exchange of information and shared learnings across a broad set of stakeholders. Bridging diverse perspectives will lead to more holistic, cost-effective solutions that provide value and enhance the customer experience.

To support information exchange in multiple forms, the U.S. Department of Energy's EVGrid Assist launched the VGI COLLAB (Collaborate, Overcome, Learn, Lead, Achieve, Build) Forums, which convene a wide variety of stakeholders to accelerate VGI progress. VGI COLLAB Forums include:
- Voices of Experience Initiatives: These efforts convene stakeholders for multiple conversations about a particular topic or technology area and result in a report that captures the collective insights, advice, and lessons learned of participants, such as an EV Future: Navigating the Transition and Flexible EV Charging. The Office of Electricity pioneered the Voices of Experience (VOE) effort to provide a forum for peer-to-peer sharing on emerging technologies and topics, and also pursues VOE efforts across a wider array of grid issues. Visit the VOE webpage to learn more and download past reports.
- Collaborative Development Efforts: Convenings bring stakeholders together to bridge perspectives, identify synergies, and leverage lessons learned to develop shared resources for decision making. Initiatives in this area include developing the VGI vision, load forecasting decision framework, and cost-benefit analysis for managed charging.
- Power Perspectives: These convenings facilitate peer-to-peer learnings about emerging issues and challenges, generate feedback on draft findings, and promote success stories.
- Webinars to provide information about new technologies, approaches, and solutions, as well as disseminate research findings, frameworks, and best practices.
