As members of the Cal Maritime team—now a 10-year participant in the U.S. Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC)—we envision a future in which sustainable maritime fleets are powered by wind-generated electricity. During CWC, we will introduce other students to renewable energy, network with industry professionals to develop our knowledge of the West Coast wind energy market and supply chain and meet with political leaders to understand offshore wind energy policies.

Our many competitive strengths include having our own wind tunnel on campus, which allows for iterative testing of our wind turbine prototypes, valuing the knowledge and support of our two offshore wind energy main sponsors (Crowley Maritime Corporation and the Hornblower Group), and being mentored by over 100 alumni from past CWC teams, who teach us how we can succeed.
