Kyle Biega oversees the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building America program as well as the residential envelope solutions portfolio in the Building Technologies Office. Building America leverages cutting-edge building science research to develop the solutions and best practices needed to advance energy efficiency in homes. Building America works closely with industry organizations, contractors, builders, program implementers, manufacturers, and national laboratories to improve performance, affordability, indoor air quality, comfort, quality, and resilience, especially in the retrofitting of existing homes. 

Prior to his role at DOE, Biega was an engineer and project manager in the energy sector, developing a keen eye for operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. Biega holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in architectural engineering.
