The U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) is seeking individuals to join the Conversion Technologies Subprogram. BETO’s Conversion Technologies program supports research and development in technologies for converting biomass feedstocks into finished liquid transportation fuels—such as renewable gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel—co-products or chemical intermediates, and biopower.

Congratulations to the 15 teams advancing as finalists in the U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) AlgaePrize 2023–2025 competition! The teams, which include students from high schools, community colleges, and universities from 11 states across the United States and Puerto Rico, will each receive $10,000 in funding to support their research projects over the next 16 months.

During a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, LanzaJet unveiled the world’s first ethanol-based alcohol-to-jet sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) commercial production plant in Soperton, GA. With the completion of this plant, LanzaTech, its subsidiary LanzaJet, Inc., and their partners, will optimize the process for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and reduce the cost of producing jet fuel renewable ethanol.
