Site Contract

Since the beginning of the U.S. Department of Energy's involvement at West Valley, the Department has utilized a Management and Operating (M&O) Contract strategy.

1982-2007
West Valley Nuclear Services Company (WVNS/WVNSCO)
At the inception of the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP), the U.S Department of Energy utilized a Management and Operating (M&O) Contract strategy to manage Project activities. The original M&O contract was awarded to West Valley Nuclear Services Company (WVNS/WVNSCO) (a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse and subsequently Washington Group International) in 1982. WVNSCO continued to manage the WVDP under contract extensions until 2007.

2007-2011
West Valley Environmental Services (WVES)
In mid 2007 the Department awarded a new performance-based contract to West Valley Environmental Services (WVES). WVES, a consortium of four companies including Washington Group, Parallax, Jacobs Engineering, and ETC was awarded a four-year contract to perform activities necessary to achieve an interim end state as defined by a performance-based work statement. The contract required WVES to perform waste management, decontamination, deactivation, disposition of facilities, and infrastructure activities at WVDP.

2011-2025
CH2M HILL B&W West Valley, LLC
The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a contract to CH2M Hill-B&W West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) of Englewood, Colorado, for the Phase I Decommissioning and Facility Disposition (Phase 1A) activities at the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP). Key components of the contract include; performance of waste management, decontamination, deactivation, and disposition of facilities, and infrastructure/landlord activities at the site. The contract is a performance-based, cost-plus-award-fee, completion type contract.
