The Department of Energy issued its PFAS Environmental Sampling Guidance to support the goal outlined in the PFAS Strategic Roadmap to “understand the presence of PFAS in drinking water and the environment” at Departmental sites.  The Guidance presents a framework for investigating PFAS at DOE sites and facilities. It describes methods for sampling and analyzing environmental conditions to help identify the nature and extent of contamination, PFAS concentrations in source zones, and the extent and impact of PFAS migration from those zones.  The guide also discusses quality assurance and quality control, and communication of risk and investigation results.

The Environmental Sampling Guidance will be updated periodically with the release of new regulations, approved analytical methods, and other guidance that reflects the evolving science and regulatory landscape surrounding PFAS.
