Former Deputy White House Liaison
Vanessa Alderete was the Deputy White House Liaison at the U.S. Department of Energy. Vanessa is a life-long public servant who hails from a large Mexican-American family from East Los Angeles. She worked for then-U.S. Senator Kamala Harris where she rose to the position of Senior Director of Constituent Services, managing a team of 9 caseworkers across California. Prior to working in the U.S. Senate, she was a professional dance instructor for 20 years where she taught children and adults Salsa, Swing and Ballroom dance. She received her Dual Progressive degrees from the University of Southern California (fight on!), where she received her B.A. in International Relations and Masters in Public Administration, focusing on climate change and immigration policy. She joined the Biden-Harris Administration and worked at the Peace Corps as the Special Assistant to the Director. Vanessa lives in DC with her husband, 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son and enjoys exploring the city, running in Rock Creek Park and taking her kids to the Smithsonian Museums.
