On January 3, 2023, the Office of Legacy Management (LM) denied the Freedom of Information (FOIA ) Appeal filed by the Jacob Sagert (Appellant) from a determination letter issued by the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA). On appeal, the Appellant challenged the adequacy of OHA's search. After reviewing OHA's response, we found that OHA directed the request to an experienced employee who used his experience to determine appropriate places to conduct a manual search. We find this to be a search reasonably calculated to uncover responsive documents . Therefore, we deny the appeal. (OHA Case No. FIA-24-0010)
