On March 28, 2018, an OHA Administrative Judge (AJ) issued a decision in which he determined that an individual’s DOE access authorization should not be restored.  A DOE Psychologist had diagnosed the individual with Alcohol Use Disorder.   After carefully considering all of the evidence in the record, the AJ found that the security concerns raised by the individual’s had not shown that she did not have not have an Alcohol Use Disorder and had not been reformed or rehabilitated.  The AJ found agreed with the Individual that her continued use of alcohol despite its potentially lethal effects when mixed with her medication and the fact that it has repeatedly placed her security clearance in jeopardy.    The AJ concluded that since the individual does not accept that she has an alcohol problem, and has not complied with the DOE psychologist’s treatment recommendations she has not resolved the security concerns raised by DOE arising from her alcohol use disorder diagnosis.  OHA Case No. PSH-18-0001.     (Steven L. Fine).
