FOIA Appeal; denied; adequacy of search

January 30, 2018On January 30, 2018, the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) denied a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Appeal filed by the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, Inc. (Appellant) from a final determination issued by the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office (ORO). On Appeal, the Appellant alleged that ORO had not conducted an adequate search for responsive records. After review, OHA determined that ORO conducted a search reasonably calculated to uncover the records requested by the Appellant. Accordingly, OHA denied the Appeal. OHA Case No. FIA-18-0004
