On September 26, 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) opened applications for up to $50 million in funding for the Distributed Energy Systems (DES) Demonstrations Program to demonstrate successful technical and financial approaches to aggregate large amounts of distributed energy resources to support resilience and community benefits.
The first stage of this funding application process required Concept Paper submittals that were due on December 13, 2023. Full Applications for the Distributed Energy Systems Demonstrations Funding Opportunity Announcement were due on April 15, 2024.
On September 30, 2024, OCED announced three projects selected for award negotiations following a rigorous Merit Review process to identify meritorious applications based on the criteria listed in the Funding Opportunity Announcement.
