The Advanced Nuclear portfolio contains two programs: the Advanced Reactor Demonstrations Projects (ARDP) and the Generation III+ (Gen III+) Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Program. These programs aim to catalyze the demonstration and deployment of nuclear energy reactors through cost-shared partnerships with industry.
Advanced Reactor Demonstration Projects
ARDP provides funding to demonstrate two advanced reactors. These innovative nuclear technologies are ideally sized and designed to provide flexible electricity output and as process heat for a wide range of industrial heat applications as well as desalination and hydrogen production.

Generation III+ Small Modular Reactor Program
The Gen III+ SMR Program provides funding to support up to two first-mover teams of utility, reactor vendor, constructor, and end-users or power off-takers committed to deploying a first plant while at the same time facilitating a multi-reactor, Gen III+ SMR orderbook.
